A quick post today to share with you what I think is the best way to use Kers in multiplayer races both in F1 2012 and in F1 2013.
Anybody who has tried multiplayer racing in F1 games knows how chaotic race starts can be, with cars flying everywhere and smashing into each other. So after a lot of practice and trial and error I found out that there are basically two ways to behave during a race start, depending on where you are placed on the grid:
Front of the grid: in this case use all your Kers immediately. This way you should maintain your position and have some extra space to avoid people crashing into you at the first turn.
Back of the grid: in this case I would suggest not to use Kers, because usually people will crash into each other at the first turn anyway, so what you should do is to stay behind, wait for the chaos to happen and then take advantage of it. You can then use Kers to escape from some dangerous situations like drivers getting back on track and the like.
There is also a third scenario, which is when you find yourself in the middle of the grid. In this case I guess both techniques may work, but personally I prefer to keep the Kers for later and err on the side of caution in this case as well.
Here you go, just my two cents for today. What do you think is the best way to start a multiplayer race in F1 games? Make sure to leave your suggestions in the comments 😉
Following yesterday’s post, today’s post is another one focused on bragging. The Time Attack challenges in F1 Classics are very, very easy though, so there shouldn’t really be much to brag about. However, they are extremely fun! Racing with cars from the ’80s and ’90s on tracks where modern F1 does not race anymore is every virtual racer’s dream. I will definitely write a post on the F1 Classics DLCs one of these days, they truly deserve it.
Anyway, following are the screenshots with my times (first attempt. all of them can be improved a lot), how well did you do? 🙂
I must admit that a couple of these challenges were pretty tough. For example, it took me 50 consecutive laps to get the gold in Interlagos, though it doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s the most difficult one, I simply suck in wet conditions. The most difficult one is probably Melbourne due to its tricky S-turns. The easiest one has to be Austin, it took me just a couple of laps to gold it.
Following are the screenshots with my times in every challenge. Were you able to do better than me? 🙂
Some months ago I wrote a blog post about how to configure the Logitech Driving Force GT to play F1 2012 on the PC, since apparently it didn’t behave very well out of the box the way it did with the console version of the game. Some days ago, thanks to the Steam Christmas Sale, I bought F1 2013 and, to my surprise, I noticed that it worked almost perfectly without the need to tinker with the settings too much.
So here are the settings that, in my opinion, work best for F1 2013:
Force Feedback: activated, all three values set to 100%
These were basically perfect out of the box, the only one I changed was the Steering Deadzone which I set to 1.25% from the default 5%. Everything else remained unchanged. Here are the two screenshots with all the values:
Here you go, I hope this post will be useful like the old one. If you have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment, I will do my best to help you out 🙂
I am a huge fan of Kingdom Hearts. I remember playing the first one a while after it came out and, even if it had its share of camera and battle system problems, I was blown away. I love Final Fantasy and Disney, so when I found out that this game was going to include characters from both worlds in an action/platformer/RPG I had a mental orgasm.
Yesterday Sony, through its official blog, made available a new trailer for Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX, which you can see here.
Kingdom Hearts 2.5 ReMIX is going to be released in 2014 and, following the style of the 1.5 ReMIX, is going to include the following titles:
Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix (previously only released in Japan)
Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix (previously only released in Japan for the PSP)
HD Remastered videos for Kingdom Hearts RE:coded
I can’t wait for this to come out. I always love entering these dreamy worlds and, in the meantime, I will make the wait more bearable by playing the 1.5 ReMIX. Also, do yourself a favour and listen to the Traverse Town sountrack, one of the best in the game 😉
